General Board / Re: The Supreme Topic of Bootlegs

I'll start on it now, actually.

Thanks Allison! You've put in a great amount of work into the archive! I hope people realise and appreciate that the vast majority of it comes from you =) Cheers.

-1 for flacs. Overrated!
Mp3 are fine, especially at 256k.

FLACs can be turned into MP3s, MP3s cannot be turned into FLACs.

Consider you other bootleggers, and provide both.

Absolutely, I have no problem with bootlegs being released in both formats if possible. I just think flacs are unnecessary, and flac supporters are elitists =P

I can't understand the benefit in taking what is inherenty a poor quality/dirty source (a bootleg) and presenting it at such high bitrates/or uncompressed. To me it seems like shooting a video on your mobile/cell phone and uploading it in FullHD. It's still going to look like mobile phone footage, but it's going to be ridiculously inconvenient to download and to store.

Obvioulsy I am no audiophile... and I don't own expensive headphones... so perhaps that has something to do with my perspective.

I'm all for options, but I don't see much benefit in flacs. Each to their own!

Good to see you're still around Andy!

Would anyone be interested in uploading these bootlegs to so they can be more easily downloaded and preserved? I can arrange access...

And Thanks!

Interesting news Makiko! I didn't expect another album any time soon. Have we heard anything else about a potential new album?

The more the merrier! Cheers.

Well, I got my tickets. I managed to get two tickets in the dress circle (top level) but in the front row, and on the left hand side, so I should have a good view of the keys! Pretty happy, as I love having no one sitting in front of me!

Anyone else got tickets? Is it just me, or has Ben lost popularity in the last few years? Where's the excitement? Where's the discussion?

Also, can anyone work the official Ben Folds forum? I can't read anything but the first post. How do you see the replies?

OK I have a couple which would be great for you to ask. I'll write them all and you can use them all or maybe a few, but would love to see the responses written here to see.

1. When can we next expect a UK tour?

2. Does Ben consider 'Lonely Avenue' a new 'Ben Folds' album or a 'side-project' in which case when would be seeing a new 'Ben Folds' album?

3. Since Nick has gotten involved with a musical project, can we perhaps expect a future collaboration by Ben on a film/book/screenplay?
Ben Folds: The Movie would certainly have me excited, about a band who had to carry a piano around to shows and try and get girls but never seemed as cool as guys in metal bands with guitars.

4. Will Ben ever do his Orchestral shows in the UK like he did in Australia and USA?

5. What is his favourite breakfast cereal?

6. Would Ben ever be interested in collaborating with a 'normal' member of the public, like different people all over the internet recording their own parts and he sings over it and makes a completely experimental album? I think it would be cool.

7. What's his favourite song to perform live?

These are actually some good questions for once! Nice work bezley!

Also, please ask about an Australian tour ;)

Guys, he was asked the other day about the reunion footage, but misunderstood the question and started answering about whether BFF would do a reunion tour. He seemed a bit awkward and uncomfortable about it. He sort of indicated it was unlikely, and I think he started to say something about it being more likely that they would do something fresh rather than old material (don't quote me on this, could be making it up). He then realised he misunderstood the question and went on to explain that the record company decided the video of the reunion gig wasn't worth releasing on DVD, financially. He said it might come out with a repackaged Messner album. He also went on about how good the recording sounds, and how it sounds terrible on the myspace recording.

Ben said in the live chat yesterday that the video will be on YouTube on Monday. Sorry, I forgot to mention this.

Apparently 30 minutes until Cory Young (a fan) does his interview.

So is this happening every day in some form or another? Anyone got an idea of the schedule for chats?

Does anyone know anything about this song?

You can see it there on iTunes, but I can't listen to or buy it. It doesn't seem to be in the Aussie iTunes store. Any yanks tell us more?

Thanks for the heads up. I missed the first part. Saw about 20 minutes of Ben and Michelle Branch. Anyone want to fill us in on what was missed?
