i hope he does soon.

agreed. Weird Al is playing on 9/2 for me and The Eels are at the start of October. Would like to see both, but if I can see Ben a few times in there instead, I'd rather do that.

Bam!

Any Chicago area burbanites considering hitting 11/5/6/7?
-
Tickets for Boston go on sale tomorrow at noon. At this time I have a class which in my three years of college is the only class to ever explicitly forbid the use of laptops. FML!

iPhones always work. I've found that out over the years in my classes buying tickets....
It's like Ben Folds just wants me to see him live. Both the dates within driving distance work PERFECTLY for me.... in ATL on Sunday and on Nashville the next Saturday... a day in which Alabama would normally be playing Auburn and where I would be.... but the game is on Friday this year. Thanks Ben!
-
Hooray for Columbus!
-
Oooh, he's coming to the Fillmore! Last time I went there it was a long day, but oh, so worth it. I'd love to go again, but not sure about getting there this time around.
-
well he better add a date for washington dc. i suppose i could drive up to philly if need be but if he's just gonna be playing the new album i dunno if it'll be worth it.

So excited for you guys, but please Ben - put some UK dates up! We're getting desperate over here.

I think I'm starting to realize that there's no turning back, as if there ever were for me, once you do a 3 concert in a row deal.
I think we need either shirts or signs. I'm not trying to be self-centered when I say they should be based on me...
-
Booked for the 11/13 gig. \m/
-
noooooo wish i had fan club priveleges.... wanna see him in philly.
anyone in the fanclub willing to hook me up somehow? I haven't seen him in ages and would love to get good seats....
email me @ proudmartian@gmail.com if you can help!
-
I hope I'm not the only one who thinks its funny/interesting we get November 20 (Charlotte, NC)

i've already been thinking about "followers of DAVID" shirts. and i don't even know the whole joke! "team DAVID"??

Hello hello hello
Nnnggg-- can't let myself get dragged back in. Argh... too much to do.
Meanwhile, I had the *weirdest* dream last night in which I had to go on holiday to the US in order to visit Ben en famille and stay with them for the weekend (near Chicago, for some reason!)
Which must have been my subconscious saying BEN WILL YOU COME TO THE UK AND DO SOME GIGS PLEASE!!!
I want a special Royal Festival Hall evening with readings from Mr Hornby and a gig *and* I want seats and not the crap house Shepherds Bush Empire where I made my toes numb for a week last time (wearing high heel boots so I could see!)
*And* I want a special under 14's gig with no swearing (ha ha) so I can take my piano learning 6 year old and explain that *this* is the guy she's not allowed to listen to much of yet but isn't he just the bestest piano player ever.
etc.
In other news: hello all! I'll hopefully go away again now ;) Sorry I missed Ben's birthday if you all did a thing.
A gig in our front room would also make up for the otherwise deficient number of gigs ;)

Yeah sorry I refuse to buy into that. :p

Does anyone else find it annoying that they won't post the prices of the VIP packages for the Nashville Symphony show? I have to know if it's worth it or not.....

Hmm this sound interesting but $30 is a lot for a ticket. Ben's also doing a National Geographic talk on his photography in DC in early December which I may also go to. But more importantly, how have people already gotten tickets to the Philly show? Since there's no DC date yet I was thinking about going to that show but I want a good seat if I'm gonna make the trip. Call me out of the loop but could anyone explain?

just saw that you said you didn't quite get the whole story. I think the creator of DAVIDISBEN sums it up pretty well:

That is correct. I'll be chatting with Mr Folds the evening of the 23rd at 6pm CST. We ALMOST chatted on the 7th, when he was asking the moderator to let me in, but the mod. wouldn't grant me broadcast privileges. Boo.
-
oh boo! I'm going to be doing my radio show then :(
have fun, at least.
-
I'm sure I will. After nearly two decades of following the man's career and well over 60 concerts, I'm sure we'll find... something to discuss. Won't be the same without ya, David!

Check it... My local news rag has picked up my interview.
Local filmmaker (and self-described beard enthusiast) Justin Parlette -- one of the local horror 'heads behind this summer's zombie apocalypse web series, Dead Wait -- will chat with Ben Folds on the internet this week. They'll talk about Folds' new collaboration with Nick Hornby, Lonely Avenue (which is out on September 28 on Nonesuch Records).
Folds isn't exactly internet-shy: he's famously appeared on Chatroulette playing improvised songs about the people chatting with him, and he's a regular chatterbox on his Twitter, where he frequently posts pix of himself, his wife and his kids.
But back to the chat: it's happening here on September 23, at 6PM, until Folds and Parlette are "tired of each other."

The excitement is building...

Didn't see no jpar tonight.
Incidentally, I remember chatting to you and relaying your messages to Ben when you were trying to get on. Good times.

that's because he's on the 23rd.
-
Ah, dumb me. 7PM EST is midnight UK time, so technically the last one was on the 23rd here.
No offence to jpar but I hope Ben pays as much attention to the rest of us tonight as he's done before. Last night was a bit of a disappointment with the technical problems and only one comment read out.

I thought it was really funny how he kept asking for me to chat and the moderator couldn't let me in.
