Transcription / All U Can Eat Solo Help

Do you guys have any strats for takling the jazz solo in All U Can Eat?  i've never learned a jazz solo before and all i've come up with is slowing down the track, playing along with it till i'm comfortable, then repeating it over and over, then slowly speeding it up.  does anyone else have any techniques?

i started working on this song today... wanna see if anyone can shed some light on it for me

more or less the first part is a Gm, Am, Bb very quickly with the right hand and without the fifths, only the firsts and thirds, and the bass it sort of a first-fifth-octave of Eb, Gm, Cm, Bb

and then the verse is those same bass notes but each with a Gm chord... and then the chorus is where i'm stuck... the first chord is Gm7/Eb, and then a Dmaj, and then a Gm Cm i think... but that's where i'm stuck.  but i'm positive that Gm7/Eb and Dmaj are right.
any help?? it's at least started

General Board / Ben Folds= A Jerk?

My brother and i were watching some of the ben lee video blogs on his website, and my brother remarked about how he'd be a cool guy to hang out with.  He then added that ben folds wouldn't be, because he heard from a girl he's friends with who was working backstage at one of his events at their college that he was very back-offish and was saying things like "get away from me"... now you'd think my brother or this girl were a ben folds haters, but he's a fan of ben's and he said the girl was a huge fan too... it makes me wonder though, because you can't really be too sure?  I'm not saying ben's been a jerk since he started his career... i just think it's a possibility he's old and cranky at this point and tired of his job... he even admitted that he doesn't play piano unless he's writing... now i'm sure many of you are thinking "ben was so nice when i met him" but it may have been because you were with many other fans?  because when you're in the public eye you need to be nice at the right times..

the same goes for someone like chris martin... so many people are coldplay fans but i've heard stories that he could be a huge jerk.  how can someone ensure that ben's truly a good guy?  it should be important to an artist to be respectful to his fans, but basically i guess i'm looking for personal experiences with ben, good and bad... please don't be too one sided, i know i'm going to get alot of flack for this topic, but i'm just as much of a ben fan here as anyone else is.

General Board / High Quality Live Bens Recordings?

Greetings everyone, long time no talk...

Does anyone have a high quality recording of the bens live?  i have melbourn 3 /24/2003, but it's kinda skippy and not the best... and the bens concerts are easily the best of any concerts they do, i love the way they mix their music.... does anyone have a high quality recordings like the one of "i touch myself"?

My favorite band next to Ben.  Love their style, their later music (the earlier stuff is a tad too rough).  I really think Ben Gibbard should join the Bens, that way they could form a legitimate group-- he's also a multi-instrumentalist... Guitar, Keyboard, Drums, Bass... they'd be ultimate.  I wonder how he'd fit in.  Does anyone have their bsides?  I've only been able to find a couple.

Ok, i'm not a full on fan, and quite frankly i watched some videos and they scare me.  I have no idea what niche of music they apply to, and some of their songs are overly sexual.  but you MUST hear backstabber.  it's an awesome song.  folds said he's a fan... that means they're worth a check out right?  but good lord, they're wierd.
