How long we're we there?
Apparently, my friend Todd and I missed the call that said to be there an hour later.
We got to Ben's studio at about 9:30 and the shoot began at about 11.
The film crew were setting up lights and stuff and Ben came in early to discuss some ideas he had for the video.
At least, that is what I gathered from what I could hear. He left and came back about an hour later.
The other extras trickled in up to about 10:30. What I thought was funny, was the first time the fog machines were on, the fire alarm went off and we had to leave the building.
After a lot of takes, we were fed pizza and sodas for lunch, Ben disappeared with Fleur to get lunch. As I mentioned earlier, I stopped Ben and Fleur as they came in from the back parking lot and I told him I really liked his new song and I saw him at Murray State. I can definitely say that Ben seems like such a humble guy and is really appreciative of his fans.
I talked to cat lady briefly, (Emily Fleming... I hope it's okay to give her name...) and I got some good photos of her, which I sent to her to use for publicity (?).
The video shoot came to a close at about 4:55. Ben was still there, and if I remember correctly, Jared and Sam were gone. I was hoping to get a shot of the three of them and maybe get all of their signatures. I did get a photo with Ben and Fleur and Ben signed my Ben Folds Live disc. (I have four autographs from Ben: fan club photo, my "I Love Ben Folds" T-shirt he signed on the heart while I was wearing it, my ticket stub for the Murray concert and the front of the CD I mentioned.) Needless to say, I haven't washed my T-shirt and it hangs in my office with his signature on it. I'm sucha nerd.
If you have seen my link I posted earlier, I have some closeup photos of Ben's piano. He left a pair of glasses, his camera, and Blackberry on the piano on the inside during lunch.
I helped myself and took the liberty of moving his glasses to the keyboard and took some cool photos of his glasses on his piano keys. I most certainly did not mess with his blackberry or camera. I thought someone would scold me for messing with his glasses but no one did. Lucky me, and I got some nice picts.
I really briefly spoke with Fleur. Jared was way cool as so was Sam. Sam posed for me outside the studio and again, I was asked to remove the photos I took outside the studio.
There were tons of hand written lyrics around on his other keyboards and stuff. And I saw tons of CD's that had stuff written in Sharpies that looked like discs Ben made for himself of other takes and stuff.... I had way to much respect for Ben to go snooping through his stuff but that is what I saw without rumaging.
Anyway, check out my photos at: http://web.mac.com/randysimmons/iWeb/Site/Ben%20Folds%20Video%20Shoot.html.
