General Board / Re: Podcasting?
« on: November 20, 2008, 11:42:05 AM »
I've been podcasting for over 3 years now over at

There are tons of tips, but I guess it depends on what kind of info you are looking for.

If getting the best sound quality with lower end technology is your concern, some quick steps you can take are just to make sure that your recording room is quiet.  Turn off any fans or air conditioners, try to muffle or move away from computer fans, basically anything that will produce extra noise you want to avoid.  If you are using a headset mic, put it a bit above your mouth so you don't breathe directly into it.  Make sure you don't peak the microphone as well, as this can make things hard to listen to for your listeners.

Sound quality aside, the most important thing about your podcast is the content quality.  Try to avoid silences and awkward dead space.  The word um is your enemy.  stuff like that.

Is this what you were looking for?  Or are your questions more software related.  I'll do my best to provide any advice I can :)

I somehow managed to get myself into watching Professional Wrestling in High School.  That was 10 years ago.  Now I've been doing a podcast about it for the last 3 years called Pinfall Recall!

Aside from that its the usual assortment of Computer and Video Game stuff.

Woops, I don't know how I missed that.  I went looking for it too.  Sorry bout that.

I was listening to some WTN at work today, and what pops up in my stupid Genius search but this new EP.  You can find it here.

It features 5 tracks from the Detroit show.

Kylie from Connecticut
Free Coffee Town
Lovesick Diagnostician
Bitch Went Nutz
The Frowne Song (Feeble Anthem)

The recordings sound great (though I've only heard the previews).  YAY for more Ben!

Honestly, I would happily throw it up on my server, if I can get my hands on it.  I have about 500gb of bandwidth left for the month, and I never get close to that much.  If you can find a way to get it all to me, I will happily throw it on my server for people to grab... at least until my bandwidth starts to dry up.

Although I suppose I could just set up a temporary ftp access for you to upload them to a directory.  Let me know and we'll get it set up via messages...

News / Re: Ben Tells Amanda to Sue Him (leak related)

Yay!  One of my posts got quoted in a news item of some significance!  Thats feels kinda tingly inside.

All jokes aside, I love that I can contribute in any way to this community.  The Suburbs is (are?) my favorite Ben site by leaps and bounds.  I'm sure any quoting on the good ol' dot org would have been met with the usual mockery.  :)

Thanks for the quote check Allison!

News / "Way to Normal" Now Available in the iTunes Store for Pre-Order
« on: August 26, 2008, 09:35:48 AM »
I just wanted to let everyone know that the album is up for pre-order in the itunes store now.  There are 2 versions, the deluxe version comes with 5 videos as well as a download of the leak version of "Bitch Went Nutz".  I'd probably pre-order it if I didn't already drop like $90 for the Super-Deluxe version!

General Board / "You Don't Know Me" on the Radio!
« on: August 19, 2008, 07:29:00 PM »
I was out to dinner with my family tonight, and that familiar beat starting pounding out over the sound system.  My wife and I were in disbelief at first, and I'll admit I was very excited to hear it.  Our server said that the restaurant (Sushi Rock in Beachwood, OH) tunes to a pop satellite radio station, but I was still as surprised as ever to hear it on the radio.  Just totally awesome! ;D

News / Re: Mysterious New Songs?
« on: July 17, 2008, 01:00:07 PM »
has anyone else noticed that a couple of the suspected fakes "steal" their main piano riffs from other Ben related songs.  Or at least sound alot like it.

For example, the main riff on Dr. Yang is very similar to the first InterFM jingle from SFG...just try to hear the  "Don't touch that dial... it's got Jam on it!!!".  And Brainwascht has a very similar riff to "Backstabber" by the Dresden Dolls, and that of course is a Ben Connection.

It may be a stretch, but it could be another clue towards the fakery.
