News / Re: BEN FOLDS FIVE BACK FOR A SHOW!

How utterly fab is that?  Now I need to a) persuade my husband that we should visit the US, b) somewho afford the airfare from the UK.

That is going to be one special show!

*goes off to sell kidney on black market*

The thing is, it's not really any of these. It's not mainstream enough for Radio 1, too quirky for Radio 2 and too mainstream for 6 music...

One of Adam and Joe on the 6 Music weekend show (can never work out who's who on the radio) is a bit of a fan I think.  I have heard a lot of Ben's stuff on their show and I am sure they were raving about YDKM last weekend (well who wouldn't?).

General Board / A Ben Day
« on: August 21, 2008, 07:04:06 AM »
So yesterday I woke up to Underground on the 6 Music breakfast show.  This made me quite chirpy (even when the song was credited to Ben Folds sans la Five).  I had Underground in my head all day (there are worst songs that could be earworms IMO).  It was a fab way to wake up too!

Fast forward to the evening, I was watching Lead Balloon with Jack Dee.  An abridged version of The Luckiest was played during a sequence.

A lot later and I am listening to the Kevin Smith podcast in bed and lo and behold There's Always Someone Cooler Than You was used as background music.

All of these little Ben moments made me stupidly happy :)

Makes me want some Hershey's Miniatures.

Too bad we don't have any. :|

Hershey's is rubbish chocolate. I tried some the other day, how do you lot eat that? I had to have half a big bar of Galaxy just to get the taste out my mouth...

Great, now I am craving a Galaxy  :P

That is one scary plague of baby zombies at the end!

I think I may have nightmares.

The hidden track is about 16 seconds before "One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces"... just pop the CD in and hold down the rewind button for a few seconds.  \m/

EDIT: On the remastered version, that is.

Is it the same hidden track or a brand spanking new one?

Can anyone tell me whether the "hidden track bit" on the end of Evaporated is still on this version?

I have the original and am umming and ahhing about buying a copy of the remastered version.  Am often on the bus, drifting away in a little world of my own, WAEA on my ipod, not noticing that the song has finished, when ""Look, man, I got your hidden track right here...." booms in my ear, causing me to yelp and the rest of the passengers to think I am a nutter. ;)

News / Re: Mysterious New Songs?

See fake or not, I really like them.  I sort of prefer this Free Coffee to the versions I have heard live, but like that one too - they are completely different and have their own merits.  It's just nice to be able to listen to some new stuff of Ben's that isn't recorded on a 'phone.  I like the quirk of The Frown Song and YDKM is just amazing.  My friends are also going to be relieved as I will now sing more than the "oh oh oh-oh" from Hiroshima (I tend to get into a bit of a loop) :)

Oh, and I always imagined that the title of album was taken from a line from Effington "the way to Normal, IL" (or something) - was I dreaming?
