« on: August 29, 2008, 10:14:43 PM »
all the craziness is probably over, let's all go buy ben's record, you can hope it's awesome, and if anything is wrong with it, we'll be sure to make a point of it. we might tone down the inside joke for a while, and seriously if ben's album is any good, it'll dissipate by itself. it's red vs blue, orger vs burbians. YOU GUYS SUCK. NANANANANANA. ASSSS. DO IT. LOCK THIS. COMMIES. THAT'S WHY YOU'RE RED RIGHT??/ commies.

and there is nothing wrong with that. It's a good laugh, but I will admit also that while I defend it, I do skip it on the playlists it's on because of the length.

I only play it when I want to, and I usually only play the bass version of it.

Red cause the place is British. Duh.

The Red Coats are coming, the Red Coats are coming.... Communist Party? I think not. Though, I do tend to be a bit Socialist, which is related....

And really, when it comes to the new album, there are things about it that are pretty different, mainly the amount of straight-forwardness in the lyrics. Can't say it's perfect, nor have I heard it all, but I do think sound wise, this is very much a step back towards the Ben Folds we know from before Silverman.

Yay, hopefully we're going backwards in time, by going forwards! Which is cool, but Silverman for me was pretty f*cking awesome. I loved trusted and You to thank so much.

You know, every time I see someone who actually hasn't taken off the swear blocker, I lol. A lot.

I was very thrilled to find that aspect of the burbs. Where that is anymore? It's gotta be in your settings somewhere.

As for Silverman and a level of suckage- It was my first Ben album, so I don't really have a place to judge it cause it's what drew me in in the first place. Granted, I turned around and got RtS and the EPs and Whatever all in that same week too.... And then saw a show within four days. I really took it at lightening speed.

Jesus, and I thought I was bad. I really thought I was one of his biggest fans if not the biggest till I came here. I haven't taken the swear blocker off, I just do it as a courtesy to anyone reading who might be offended by the F word.

Oh I replayed the bass version of Rent-A-Cop, and he's a better slap player than I am. WTF? I'm so jealous of the talent.

It's great when an artist you've just grown to love comes to town soon afterward, isn't it? I saw Ben about 6 weeks after first hearing WAEA, Broken Social Scene not long after finding them...

If they are, they're listening to the wrong artist.

And by got the albums, I mean, I stole them.

I've physically bought them all since, but in those first couple months. Well. It went down like this. My ex boyfriend said, hey there's this free concert down at summerfest, you might like it, I'll burn you some of his music so you're not totally stupid at the show.
I got silverman that night, and the next couple days, I demanded more, and he gave me what else I 'needed to know'.
I was still basically clueless at that show. With a lack of messner I had no idea wtf Lullabye was about. And then, years later down the road, I was DYING to hear that song live, and found a copy of my first show's set list on the .org and went... DAMNIT. My desires have since been fulfilled several times over, however.

It was really the live show that sank the deal though.

I do remember listening to RtS on repeat that summer. It was my summer cd of 05. for sure. Only four years too late. WHooppss.

The swear blocker is only what you see. Any random person who comes across the boards sees sh*t and the like. But if you type shit, and cause I have the block off, I see your shit. OH no, I seem to have walked into a terrible predicament.
