I'm interested in the Fear of Pop tape.

I have mixed feelings about this. I love the EPs, don't get me wrong, but I do not like this release. I don't like the re-visited versions of these songs. I really think that Ben should have just let them be!! I also don't like how it skims over half the stuff he wrote on the EPs.
This would be a good opportunity to just release all three EPs as they originally were, in a vinyl format.
Well... with a 21 month-old around it's been difficult to find time to edit and split the audio recording (which sounds much better than the video I shot) but here is a quick upload of The Luckiest and the unreleased yMusic song and Emaline (Jpar's requests).

So just picked and am listening to the vinyl....really good sound actually. The digital download isn't available on the website so I don't know what is going on there. Hopefully it will be up soon; looking forward to the three bonus tracks.
I'm stoked about the Reinhold vinyl. Does anyone know if there's going to be a limited color release for this one? I got the W&EA orange version, but I jumped the gun on the Rockin' the Suburbs release and pre-ordered from a standard black vinyl version and missed out on the yellow release. Just curious if Reinhold is getting a red release or something along those lines. Don't want to miss out on that.
I did the VIP package, which was worth it. The Masterclass session was very cool and just meeting him at the piano was like a once in million opportunity. I felt like a nervous little kid though. For the masterclass I asked Ben what made him go back to the piano arrangement (heard at the end of the Silverman DVD) to turn that into So There. Interestingly, he said that piece was going to start off his last three albums, but he could never tie everything together for it. I guess that would explain why at the end of the DVD he says, "...that's it" aka I'm stuck at this point. He said he keeps musical phrases for later use and gave up on the piece for a little bit because he began to associate it with failure...hard to believe Ben is human after all huh? He said he pulled it out again with Ymusic and it just finally clicked. The other questions were surrounding his music education and about trying to help some frustrated musicians in our group who were getting stuck writing songs. Ben's advice was actually pretty cool: if you aren't happy and just getting frustrated with it...not everyone is cut out to be a singer-song writer. If you go do something else with your life, that's fine, and if you try something else and get pulled back into music, that's a sign to stick with it. He said then you need to go pick up your sword again and go fight the beast. When I went up to get my picture, I also asked him about the 9:00 Don't Change Your Plans version, and he said it did exist at one point but is gone forever as the mix tape was edited, cut and thrown away. He said the piece was way too long and his producer had to cut it because the album was too long already. Reinhold was supposed to be one continuous piece of music that flowed from song to song. He even got up and played the piano reminding how Army should have flowed directly into Regrets with that chord progression. Really cool. I'm not a big fan of the soundcheck for two reasons, first, he ended up playing some of the songs during the paper airplane segment, second, it's just kind of weird having him play like two bars of a song and then moving on to something else. Sports and Wine was really cool though.
Soundcheck:
1. Carrying Cathy
2. Army
3. Adelaide
4. Sports and Wine (Stunningly just sat down and played this easily like he plays it every day.)
5. Levi Johnston's Blues
6. Underground
7. Do It Anyway (had to pull out the note book to look)
8. Gracie
9. The Luckiest
10. Hiroshima
11. Cologne
Set List:
1. Phone in a Pool
2. Annie Waits
3. Last Polka
4. Late
5. The Ascent of Stan
6. Bastard (4 piece harmony crowd help)
7. Bitch Went Nutz
8. Effington
9. You Don't Know Me
10. Landed
Paper Airplane:
1. Where's Summer B
2. Fred Jones Part II
3. Gracie
4. Piano Concerto Snippets (for some reason lots of Classical Music requests?)
5. Not the Same
6. Cologne
7. Fur Natalie Klein/Rock This Bitch (Requested Beethoven's Fur Elise....obviously turned into a Rock This Bitch)
8. The Luckiest
9. Ymusic Unreleased Song (Jpar on his 80th?? Show (Congrats Man!) requested something new, so he went in the back, got his phone and played a recording directly off his phone into the microphone...sounded really good, typical Ben lyrics though which were more comical than serious).
10. Emaline
11. Come On Eileen (Dumb, just repeated it over and over for a minute).
12. Underground
Encore:
13. Kate
14. Zak and Sara (EPIC)
I recorded audio of this show and got pretty decent video of some songs... will try to get things edited and uploaded soon.
